Frequently asked questions

Construction workers who work at heights (roofers, framers, painters, drywall installers, electricians, solar installers and helpers), maintenance workers who use portable ladders, and new hires before their site training with the competent person.

No. It is the theory portion only. It is not competent person training and does not make the worker a competent person. The employer's competent person must train the worker on the site's fall hazards and with the employer's own equipment, explain the rescue plan and sign the written certification record (29 CFR 1926.503(a)(2) and (b); 29 CFR 1926.1060(a)). In California, Cal/OSHA's rules apply. This course is not an OSHA approval or certification.

About 60 minutes, online, at your own pace, on a computer or a phone. You can start right after you pay. At the end there is a 15-question final exam; you need 80% to pass, and you can try again as many times as you need.

A HealthSafetyU certificate of completion that says you completed the theory portion. It is valid for one year and has a verification code and a QR code. Your employer can verify it online.
