Frequently asked questions

Workers who lift, push, carry or do repeated work: warehouses, distribution centers and parcel delivery, grocery and retail stores, construction, landscaping, farm and packing houses, manufacturing and assembly lines, janitorial staff, clinics and offices with computer work, and staffing agencies.

There is no federal ergonomics standard, but OSHA can cite ergonomic hazards under the General Duty Clause and expects training as part of an injury prevention program. In California, training is required once 8 CCR 5110 applies to a job. The course covers the 8 CCR 5110 training topics when you add your program details on the employer page.

This course is general training. It does not replace the worksite evaluation and the controls you must carry out. It gives no medical advice: workers with pain should report it to you and get care through your workers' compensation process. It does not cover the California programs for hotel housekeeping (8 CCR 3345) or health care patient handling (8 CCR 5120). This course is not an OSHA or Cal/OSHA approval or certification.

About 50 minutes, online, at each worker's own pace on a computer or a phone. Each certificate of completion shows the date and the exam result, has a verification code and a QR code, and can be verified online. It is valid for one year.
