Frequently asked questions

Workers who use or work near chemicals: cleaning and janitorial staff, hotels and laundries, clinics and offices (medical, dental, chiropractic, physical therapy), auto shops, landscaping, pest control, restaurants and warehouses. 29 CFR 1910.1200(h) requires training when workers start the job and whenever a new chemical hazard is introduced into their work area.

Under the 2024 update to the standard, employers must update workplace labels, their written program and training on newly identified hazards of substances by November 20, 2026 (mixtures by May 19, 2028). If your staff already took HazCom, the 25-minute OSH 103 update covers what is new.

It covers the general training topics of paragraph (h). Your company must still tell workers about the specific chemicals, labels, safety data sheet location and procedures at your site. Use the employer page included with the course. This course is not an OSHA approval or certification.

Each certificate of completion shows the date, the exam result and the instructor's name, and has a verification code and a QR code. Employers can verify it online. It is valid for one year.
