Frequently asked questions

Staffing agencies and employers with Spanish-speaking workers; construction subcontractors, landscaping, janitorial and hotel housekeeping, warehouses, food processing and packing, agriculture, small manufacturers and property maintenance; and any employer that wants one orientation for new hires.

No. OSHA's Outreach Training Program is a voluntary program taught only by OSHA-authorized trainers, who alone give the Department of Labor (DOL) card. This course is a safety orientation based on OSHA standards, taught by HealthSafetyU, and it does not give a DOL card. If your job site, union or state requires that card, you need a course from an OSHA-authorized trainer.

This course gives awareness. Your company still teaches its own equipment, its plans and any full training a standard requires, for example bloodborne pathogens, respirators, hazard communication on your chemicals, forklifts, fall protection and hearing conservation. HealthSafetyU has full courses for several of these topics. HealthSafetyU does no medical evaluations, fit tests or hearing tests.

About 150 minutes, online, at your own pace, on a computer or a phone. You can start right after you pay. At the end there is a 25-question exam; you need 80% to pass, and you can try again as many times as you need.

A HealthSafetyU certificate of completion, valid for one year, with a verification code and a QR code. Your employer can verify it online.
